Well I guess it's getting to that time of year (well in the northern hemisphere at least, it's winter where I am and damn freezing!). School will be out for many of you and you may be looking for something to do with your free time. What better thing do to other than taking up some fansubbing?

The next few months for us tend to be a bit more on the productive side with more people free to do some fansubbing and such we usually do a recruiting drive as well.

So let's get on with it eh?

We are recruiting for both Mandarin Chinese (Mainland & Taiwan) and Japanese dramas.


We are looking for:
Chinese -> English Translators & Spot Translators. Being able to read traditional and/or simplified is a plus
Japanese ->English translators & spot translators (translate from audio)
Timers -> To time to chinese subtitles and/or chinese audio depending on the drama.

We do not need editors.

Armor Hero XT Recruitment

 

Okay, so I know we've said we were going to wait till Star Boulevard was done, but let's face it. I (Resie) have been itching to start on this for quite sometime, so we thought we'd put out a call for translators and spot translators specifically for this series. 

The recruitment specifics are this:

We are looking for reliable dedicated chinese mandarin and/or simplified text translators and/or spot translators  --> English.

Episodes will be pre-timed/ghost timed so we are not looking for any extra timers at the moment (we may do in the future) nor are we looking for editors or qc's.

You will be working with small but dedicated team that has been specifically recruited to work on this project so hopefully there won't be too many hiccups or interruptions.

Episodes are around 22-23 minutes each (between 150-300 lines) and there are a total of 60 episodes. [To give you an idea mainland dramas are generally 40-45mins each with around 500-800 lines, so episodes for this won't take long to translate]

We can't make a proper start to this until we have a few translators to get it going.

Recruitment for Hayate the Combat Butler!

That's right! DoReMii will be taking on the Hayate the Combat Butler drama starring George Hu, Park Shin Hye, Tia Li, plus Lee Shiau Shiang and Luo Hong Zheng.

It will be airing on Sunday night (June 19th) so we are now recruiting for various positions to work on this drama.

Dark Fragrance is a 33 episode drama staring two of Puppet's favorite actors, the irresistibly delicious Huang Xiao Ming and the sweet, lovable Wang Luo Dan.
Huang Xiao Ming plays dual roles in this epic tale of the dark cruelty in love and family. First as the young Cheng Da, then as his great grandson Cheng Yuan. The story starts at the turn of the century and quickly tells the story of how Cheng Da transformed from a poor orphan into a wealthy heartless man of power.

Decades later the story centers around Cheng Yuan, the fourth generation heir to the rich and powerful Cheng family. After "studying" abroad in the United States, Yuan is on his way back home to attend his father's funeral and to make plans for his own marriage, when he meets a couple of Chinese travelers. Translators & Spot Translators needed for K.O. 3an Guo

For awhile now we've had a few problems with releasing K.O. 3an Guo episodes. This is mainly due to the fact that all our Translators and Spot Translators (translation checkers) have become quite busy due to other commitments and barely have any time to Translate or even Spot Translate completed translations. Hence the slow turn around in releasing recently.

So we are now looking for Translators and Spot Translators (particularly spot translators) who are interested in helping out with K.O. 3an Guo. Prior knowledge of KO One, X-Family and KO3 is a bonus but not necessary. We do have in depth guide for terminology to help you with many of the terms we've already come across in the series. If you are already familiar with our fansubs for these shows, even better.

What is a spot translator?
A spot translator is a translator who has a very good knowledge (studied it for many years, fluent, or a native speaker with good English) of the dramas spoken language (in this case Mandarin Chinese). Their job is to check over the translator's translation and smooth out lines that makes no sense, they correct lines that have been translated incorrectly, translate lines that the original translator was unable to translate. They often have to deal with technical/business/subject specific terms or poetic/historical lines and in KO3's case, martial arts terms and references to Romance of the Three Kingdoms.

Spot Translators Needed for Prince of Tennis

For sometime now we've had a few problems with releasing Prince of Tennis episodes. This is mainly due to the fact that all our Spot Translators (translation checkers) are very very very busy people and barely have any time to spot completed translations. Hence the slow turn around in releasing.

So we are now looking for Spot Translators who are hopefully familiar with the Japanese manga and/or with the Chinese drama itself. Knowledge of Tennis is also a bonus and if you are familiar with our released episodes even better. Translators are also welcome to join us for translating Season 2, but as I said we are in more need of spot translators at this point in time.

What is a spot translator?
A spot translator is a translator who has a very good knowledge (studied it for many years, fluent, or a native speaker with good English) of the dramas spoken language (in this case Mandarin Chinese). Their job is to check over the translator's translation and smooth out lines that makes no sense, they correct lines that have been translated incorrectly, translate lines that the original translator was unable to translate. They often have to deal with technical/business/subject specific terms or poetic/historical lines. Also this is where often a knowledge of Tennis and Prince of Tennis comes into play. We try to use as much correct terminology that goes with playing tennis and the characters specific techniques as we can.

Upcoming Projects in Need of Translators

A house is not a home until someone makes it one. Gao Ling (Esther Liu) was deeply attached to her childhood home and refused to sell it despite the crushing mortgage payments. Mean while, Yuan Hao (Eddie Peng) couldn't wait to run away from his even though his family owns a housing development company. As for Feng Shang Ning (Lee Wei), he never had one, and therefore didn't know how to design a house that people can call home. Gao Ling first met them in rather awkward situations, the first she pestered for money, the latter she tried to scam. However, one of them would be the father of her child, her heartbreaking first love. The other, she would become his saving grace.


My Prince stars My Hero contestants and is about a mother who wants her four sons to marry rich girls. Eldest son Zhi Kai (Zhong Kai) is a hard working business man who supports his family, second son Zhi Wen (Deeven) is an irresponsible and flirtatious model, third son Zhi Chen (Zhang Xiao Chen) is a quiet bartender, and youngest son Zhi Xiao (Song Xiao Bo), much like Xiao Bo in real life, has been both deaf and mute since he was an infant, however, has a cheerful and innocent personality that makes his brothers protective of him. Also staring Jarvis Wu and Chen Ze Yu.


Staring Rachel Liang, Tender Huang, Denny Huang and Tiffany Xu. After the death of her boyfriend, a musician, Rachel Liang's character strives to fulfill his dream of becoming a famous singer.

We will also be subbing Down With Love, as you can see on our upcoming projects page. However, we will not be recruiting anyone for this drama until it airs, since that is a ways off.
